Drawn - Studies of Roses

A while ago I did a series of drawings of roses and here are a couple I find myself coming back to, particularly the drawing of the white rose in pencil and white Pitt pastel pencil. Maybe because it shows me that even delicate marks can evoke the reality of the fresh flower.
The second drawing is in pencil and shows two views of a dried rose and the texture of the petals needed to be very different, which I hope to have conveyed in the drawing.
I would love to challenge myself to reinterpret these studies in embroidery one day, but for now I have a lot to learn and discover on my City & Guilds Stitched Textiles course - watch this space!
