Project - Colour Scheme for a lap quilt



Here are the beginnings of a new project I am working on - a lap quilt/throw using some of my favourite vintage kimono fabrics and some new Japanese yarn dyed cottons. My starting point was the palest fabric (the off white hemp fabric with pale blue and green leaves at the top), which I just adore. This is to be my 'highlights' fabric. One by one I started to build up the collection with blue/natural/indigo fabrics - I initially wasn't at all sure about the more greenish blues, but once I put in the little scrap of olive green wool fabric (bottom middle) the whole group of fabrics suddenly pulled together!

Now my next problem to solve is what block to use... I do fancy trying a tiny one patch tumbler, but I'm not quite convinced. The fabric collection says 'summer rain' to me, maybe I should use narrow strips? Any ideas?
