Project - Kimono Applique

As promised here is the latest little project I've been working on. Since looking at the work of the Japanese quilt artist Yoko Saito (I love her book on Japanese taupe colour theory and will be posting a review soon) I've been wanting to try my hand at needle turn applique, so I decided to put together a small sampler using scraps of vintage kimono fabrics.

It was a bit of challenge, particularly as a couple of the silks are a little slippery and don't lend themselves easily to being turned under with the needle. But the cotton, hemp and tsumugi silks didn't give me too much trouble - being patient helps :-) I really enjoy the different textures of the kimono fabrics together and am pleased with the end result!
