Vintage - 3 Blue Japanese Fabrics

A quick update as I have just received some beautiful vintage/antique fabrics from Japan!
The first one (on the left) is a hand woven tsumugi silk kimono fabric, smooth and soft, with a very slight sheen. It reminds me of a cloudy sky, or reflections on water, and I love the floating rectangles woven in thicker thread. The fabric in the middle is antique, probably the oldest fabric in my collection now. It is a katazome cotton, which means that a resist paste was applied to the fabric with a stencil before dying. It was probably used as a futon cover, and has some rather faded areas, but the cotton is very soft and has great character. The last fabric (on the right) is another tsumugi silk kimono fabric, this one has a more rustic character, very soft and textured.

I am currently working on putting together some bundles and individual lengths of vintage Japanese fabrics for my etsy shop - look out for a shop opening announcement soon!
