Vintage - Tsumugi Silk

After an extensive break I am at long last back and blogging again! I am also selling some vintage Japanese fabrics and threads on ebay at the moment - have a look at my listings and get yourself a bargain. I thought I'd also show off a couple of my favourites here. I just love tsumugi silk, and here is a fabulous and rare vintage thread made in Nishijin, the textile district in old Kyoto. The core of this thread is handspun dark yellow tsumugi silk, which is wrapped with gold foil, just stunning! I believe originally this thread would have been intended for weaving obi.

And here is one of the most beautiful tsumugi silk kimono fabrics I have in my collection, and I am selling two pieces. It is handwoven and the workmanship required to achieve a yarn dyed pattern of such detail is outstanding. Such a beautiful design of colourful ribbons!

I am listing vintage Japanese fabrics and threads every week, please keep checking for bargains!
