Books handbound with Kimono Silk

For ages I've been meaning to blog about the beautiful work of Kaija Rantakari, a master bookbinder (and poet/artist) based in Helsinki. After admiring her work from afar I approached her to find out whether she might be interested in trying out some of my vintage tsumugi kimono silks for her bookbinding projects, and she agreed! I sent her smaller pieces in a range of different colours and designs, and you can see her first results here on her blog.

Kaija then bought some beautiful blue and cream vintage tsumugi silk from me and has just created the most stunning set of books... bound by hand with coptic stitching these books are real keepsake treasures. To secure one of these gorgeous treasures for yourself make sure you head over to her shop paperiaarre on Etsy soon!
